Description

Join us for a family friendly forage for insects in the lush bush area of Clifton Grove. Dr Lachlan Jones, a local entomologist (insect specialist) will lead the walk and share his expertise. It will be a wonderful opportunity to learn more about the intriguing, often unpredictable and highly varied habits and life cycles of these mini beasts, whose numbers will be reaching their apex at this time of the year. Following a gentle stroll, morning tea will be served.

Lachlan is an insect ecologist with a focus on insect-plant interactions. Recent projects he has worked on include investigating the diversity and abundance of Sesame Seed pests and beneficials across Australia. Lachlan has also researched the economic thresholds for pest caterpillars and mirid bugs, pollinator conservation through medicinal nectar, bee responses to climate change and worker task allocation in stingless bee nests.

This initiative has been supported by the NSW Government through the Landcare Enabling Program Phase 3 Innovations and Partnerships Grant Program.
