Description

Join entomologist Dr Joshua Grubb for an evening of discovery! Come and learn about the invertebrates that live in the Sanctuary. This will be followed by heading out into the Sanctuary to view species in person using light traps.

This event is part of the Great Southern Bioblitz. We encourage attendees to record what they see during this event and upload sightings via iNaturalist to contribute to this project.

This event is supported by Banyule's Spring Outdoors program.

FAQs

  • How much walking is there?

This experience includes walking around 500m to light trap locations within the Sanctuary. Please let us know if walking long distances is difficult for you.

  • What do I need to bring?

Please dress appropriately for the weather (eg. appropriate footwear - no thongs or heels). Head nets are recommended if you have one as you are likely to be surrounded by flying insects.

  • What happens if it rains?

Wildlife don't mind a little bit of rain, so the event will go ahead even if light showers are expected. We may cancel in the event of extreme weather conditions (eg. high winds or heavy rainfall); but we will contact you directly if this occurs.

  • How can I get in touch with any questions?

If you have any questions, please contact us on (03) 9479 1206 or wildlife@latrobe.edu.au
