Event description

The TEMI Spotlight Series shines a light on our professional community, exploring how individuals and organisations alike have quickly pivoted their workplace, talent, mobility and travel strategies to enable their businesses to continue to operate effectively in the wake of international and interstate border closures.

In October we will hear from Michelle Morris, Manager Global Mobility at BHP, on her team's achievements during this difficult time, current policies being launched, future activities and the creation of BHP's points-based mobility program.

Before COVID-19 hit, BHP would average 350–400 new international moves a year, and manage close to 1,000 active IAs at any point in time across 15 countries. Domestically, BHP moves close to 1,000 employees a year within Australia.

About Michelle Morris

Michelle has been in Global Mobility for 14 years, initially starting her career as a tax graduate at EY where she supported clients with expatriate tax consulting and compliance.

Michelle relocated to London in 2011 where she made the move in-house as a Global Mobility and Tax Manager at Barclays Bank.

After close to 5 years in London, Michelle returned to Melbourne and joined the BHP Global Mobility team. Michelle is currently the Manager Global Mobility at BHP where she leads a global team of over 30 GM and IA payroll professionals across Melbourne, Santiago, Houston, Kuala Lumpur and Manila to manage the global GM program, including policy governance, vendor management, operations, tax and IA payroll.
