About
This seminar is hosted by INSIGHT's Women & Children’s Health Collaborative and will explore the meso and macro-level factors that impact refugee access to and utilisation of healthcare services in the United States and South Korea. Through a comparative case study, Dr. Yeo will elucidate the challenges and barriers faced by refugees in these two countries, providing valuable insights into healthcare policies and practices that can improve refugee health outcomes.
Dr. Yeo has worked as an evaluation and research specialist for the last 10 years in the field of international development. Also, later in her career, she worked as a senior program officer for Syrian refugees in Jordan and Lebanon in World Vision. In the US, she worked as a caseworker associate for the International Rescue Committee, one of the largest refugee resettlement agencies in the country. Currently, Dr. Yeo's research endeavors focus on elucidating multilevel factors influencing cancer prevention, including modifiable risk factors, cancer screening behaviors, and healthcare access among refugee populations.
