PANEL CONVERSATION

Please join us for our next Artist Meet & Greet

We'll hear from an expert panel sharing insights for emerging artists.

  • Amber Creswell Bell - Curator, author, gallery director, artist mentor
  • Chrystie Longworth - Artist, maker, ceramicist, Cobalt & Kin business
  • Mignon Steele - Artist, maker, painter, art installer, community art projects

Amber Creswell Bell - As an arts curator, gallery director and author, Amber will lead this conversation with two well-established local artists. Amber is renowned for establishing the National Emerging Art Prize (NEAP) in collaboration with Michael Reid and has been curator since its inception. Amber is an artist mentor who champions emerging and unrepresented artists and has published six books (another on the way) showcasing and supporting the diversity of local Australian artists.

Chrystie Longworth - Training originally at Sydney College of the Arts as a printmaker, Chrystie found and fell in love with clay, and after years of practice has more recently commenced a Masters of Ceramics at the National Art School, Sydney. Chrystie produces functional pieces under the name Cobalt and Kin with more recent conceptual pieces that are completely mesmersing and engage with narratives of femininity, identity and domesticity.

Mignon Steele - Mignon Steele is an independent artist based in the Illawarra who works primarily as a painter. Initially commencing study in New Zealand Mignon completed her study at the National Art School. Mignon has exhibited widely across Australia and participated in many art prizes and residencies. She paints from a place where human strangeness and the natural world intersect; from where anxieties, optimism and the awkward humour of being human all collide.
