Dr Samuel will share his personal experiences deployed as an Medevac Team Leader for over 300 days since October 7, 2023.

Prof Fitzgerald will share his insights about frontline civilian and military trauma care and management and the importance of Australia-Israel Collaboration in this field.

Dr Nir Samuel, MD PhD is a trauma and emergency medicine specialist at Schneider Children's Medical Center (SCMC) in Israel. In the IDF Reserves, he serves as a trauma and medevac team leader. In 2022, Nir specialized in major trauma at The Alfred Major Trauma Service and the National Trauma Research Institute supported by an AUSiMED Medical Fellowship. Since October 7th 2023, he has been deployed for over 300 days in his IDF Reserves Medevac Team Leader role.

Professor Mark Fitzgerald ASM is Director of Trauma Services and the National Trauma Research Institute at The Alfred, Melbourne. He is a world-leading trauma care specialist with over 30 years of clinical experience in the resuscitation of major trauma patients, his work takes him from the frontline of Emergency and Trauma Care to the hospital’s trauma wards, attending critically ill patients with multiple, life-threatening injuries.
