Event description

Join acclaimed Australian author Eleanor Limprecht for an engaging and inspiring online session exploring how real women and historical events can spark powerful and imaginative fiction. Eleanor will share her approach to transforming the lives of historical figures into compelling narratives, drawing on examples from her own writing practice.

A constant reader and experienced creative writing teacher, Eleanor is the author of What Was Left, Long Bay, The Passengers, The Coast, and the forthcoming Cul de Sac. Her body of work reflects her deep interest in women’s stories and the shadows of the past.

Whether you’re a writer, artist, history lover, or simply curious, this 45-minute talk will open up new ways of thinking about research, inspiration, and weaving real lives into creative work. The session will also include a Q&A, giving attendees the opportunity to ask Eleanor about her process, her inspirations, and her craft.

You’ll also hear about opportunities for women creatives to be involved in Inspired by Her, a new program inviting local writers and artists to create work inspired by regional women’s histories, culminating in an exhibition as part of the 2026 Orana Every Woman Festival.

This session is open to all. You do not need to participate in the exhibition to attend. Simply come along, learn, and be inspired.
