    The Inspiring Wāhine Conference

    Date: International Rural Women’s Day, 15th October 2024

    Location: the Finery, Alexandra, Central Otago

    Host: Image Central

    Join us for the inaugural Inspiring Wāhine Conference, a day & night dedicated to rejuvenation, connection, and celebration for women, with a special dinner open to all. Fill your cup and be inspired by the stories of incredible wāhine from our rural community and beyond. This year's theme is "Thriving Together: Cultivating Inspiration & Wellbeing".  

    Who is the Inspiring Wāhine Conference suitable for?
    Wāhine that need to take time out to recharge their batteries, reconnect & enjoy the inspiring stories of other wāhine.

    • Community and Commercial Leaders: Business owners, non-profit leaders, rural residents, aspiring leaders, and policy makers keen to connect and learn from accomplished wāhine in their sectors.
    • Caregivers and Advocates: Educators, mentors, healthcare workers, community advocates, and philanthropists looking to rejuvenate, connect, and find new ways to impact their communities.
    • Experienced Mentors: Retirees and senior leaders eager to share their wisdom, continue learning, and inspire change

      • Networking Opportunities. Meet some of Aotearoa's most esteemed wāhine leaders including Dame Farah Palmer, Dr. Jo Cribb, Kate Scott, Gill Naylor, Loshni Manikam, and Dr. Denise Quinlan.
      • Enjoy a day filled with thought-proviking discussions, networking, interactive & fun workshops 
      • Celebrating the stories from inspiring wāhine from across Aotearoa New Zealand
      • Delicious Catering.  Enjoy morning and afternoon tea, lunch, pre-dinner nibbles, welcome bubbles, and a three-course dinner, all with warm southern hospitality at the Finery in Alexandra

      Morning keynote presentation: Dr. Denise Quinlan recognised as one of the world’s leading resilience experts and a world-class facilitator will share essential skills for having greater calm and focus in your day, to look after your wellbeing, and to be equally, if not more productive.

      Panel Discussions: Hear authentic stories of resilience from:

      • Serena Lyders(Ngāti Porou), Founder of Whānau Consultancy Services
      • Kuisitina Colailgo, Founder of Pasifika Central Otago
      • Bernadine Guilleux, Chair of NZ Good Agricultural Practice
      • Dr. Helen Paterson, Founder of the Rural Woman’s Health Bus

      Afternoon Workshops:

      Choose from a variety of intertesting topics from menopause, flower arranging, Pasifika zumba, yoga, personal investing, pamper sessions, makeup, personal styling& more. Some workshops may require an additional activity fee and have limited spots.  More https://www.inspiringwahine.nz... 

      Mobile Health Services:

      Get your immunizations up-to-date with Ururuwhenua Hauora immunisation bus that will be parked nearby or check out the Rural Woman's Health Bus.

      Evening Program:

      • Optional wine tasting: Hosted by Central Otago Women in Wine at 5:00 PM (limited to 70 participants, $15 per person, booking required).
      • MC: Loshni Manikam, author and Founder of Thriving Farming Women, will lead the evening activities.

      Dinner Speakers:

      • Dr. Kate Dixon and Jenaya Smith from Health Central discuss their journey in expanding health and emergency services.
      • Kate Scott, Chair of Rural Leaders New Zealand and Executive Director of Landpro, shares her experiences in leadership and balancing multiple roles.
      • Megan Longman and Kim Froggat, Co-Founders of Journeys, talk about empowering girls through outdoor adventures.

      Keynote: Dame Farah Rangikoepa Palmer, (Ngāti Maniapoto, Waikato) former Black Ferns captain, shares her inspiring story from growing up on a farm in Pio Pio & all that taught her in terms of resilience and rolling your sleeves up and doing your part.

      Tickets:

      Early Bird (before 26th Augutst 2024):

      • Community (Non-Profits/Charities/Individuals & School Teachers): $295 incl GST - booking fees additional
      • Commercial/Government: $512 incl GST - booking fees additional

      Late (after 26th Aug 2024):

      • Community: $395 incl GST - booking fees additional
      • Commercial/Government: $626.75 incl GST - booking fees additional

      Registrations close at 5:00 PM, 20 September 2024.

      Afternoon Workshops:

      Details and registrations will be finalised late September. Activity fees need to be received by the organiser by 30 September or as advised by the organiser.
