Event description

Presenter:  Alex Kasoff, LCSW-C

Description:

This one-hour workshop is designed for mental health clinicians looking to expand their toolkit by incorporating yoga-inspired movements and breathwork into their therapeutic practices. By exploring how movement and breath can complement traditional DBT skills, clinicians will learn how to use these tools for emotional regulation, relaxation, and grounding. The session will include a blend of gentle, chair-based movement, mindfulness, and practical tips for using these techniques in both in-person and telehealth settings. No previous yoga experience is required, as the focus is on accessible and brief exercises that can be easily integrated into clinical practice.

  1. Analyze how yoga-inspired breath and movement activities influence emotional regulation, stress reduction, and cognitive clarity, particularly for clients experiencing trauma, anxiety, or physical tension.
  2. Design practical interventions using yoga-inspired breath and movement activities to enhance emotional regulation, focus, and relaxation, tailored for clients with high emotional reactivity or stress-related symptoms.
  3. Evaluate strategies for integrating yoga-inspired breathwork and movement activities into therapy sessions, assessing their effectiveness in promoting healing, relaxation, and resilience for clients across diverse therapeutic modalities.
