Event description

Join Allegra Spender, Anthony Whealy QC, Saffron Zomer and Bill Browne in conversation about the need for a federal integrity commission, bringing back honesty in politics, and the powerful role that independents can play.

Anthony Whealy QC is a former judge of the NSW Court of Appeal, former Assistant Commissioner of the NSW ICAC, and the current chair of the Centre for Public Integrity. The Centre for Public Integrity is a collaboration of former judges, and integrity experts.

Saffron Zomer is the executive director of the Australian Democracy Network, with more than a decade of experience leading law reform campaigns. The Australian Democracy Network's most recent campaign - #OurDemocracy - outlines a framework for creating a fair Australian democracy, stamping out corruption, reducing corporate influence on politics, and levelling the playing field around election time.

Bill Browne is a senior researcher at The Australia Institute and head of The Australia Institute's Democracy and Accountability Program.

Allegra Spender is the independent candidate for Wentworth in this year's federal election. Allegra is committed to improving transparency, accountability, and integrity in government. Vested interests are damaging our faith in government, and Allegra believes in the need for representatives in Canberra who serve their electorate, not their careers.

To find out more about Allegra's integrity agenda, and to hear from some of the field's leading experts, join us at 7:30pm on Monday March 28 at Easts in Bondi Junction.
