Event description

  • Tuesday 12 September 2023 (bookings close at 12noon 8 September 2023 unless sold out prior)

Overview

Learn how to protect your organisations’ intangible intellectual property (IP) to create further value and support your future business strategy using a proven five step process.

This one-day practical workshop will help demystify how to get the benefit from your IP – helping you understand the IP in your business so you can start developing a clear IP strategy. Although intellectual property protection is often seen as an expensive or complicated distraction to launching or running a business, failure to do so can lead to anything from lost revenue opportunities to liquidation of a business without realisation of its greatest assets.

What will you gain?

You will be helped to:

· identify the IP in your business;

· assess what other similar IP already exists in the market that may conflict with yours or add value to your ideas;

· ensure you own your IP; and

· create a strategy and IP asset list for maximising the value in your great ideas.

This is critical as, since the 1990s, the average value of intangible assets in businesses has gone from less than half of its value to more than 90 percent.

Course structure

This accessible and easily understandable one day workshop runs from 9am to 4pm, and will allow you to look in detail at your own business. You will use a work book outlining five key steps to understand the IP in your business, and to create your own IP asset list and strategy.

Facilitator

Rachel Triplow
Course Facilitator

Rachel has a passion for helping businesses protect and develop their most important asset - their awesome ideas. She has specialised in intellectual property law for more than 20 years, with roles including:

  • Assistant Commissioner at the Intellectual Property Office of New Zealand - leading the trade marks examination team and running a project to align practices with IP Australia where possible;
  • General Counsel of an ASX listed New Zealand intellectual property investment and commercialisation company;
  • UK Counsel for an international IT/IP company; and
  • senior solicitor roles in IP law firms in New Zealand and the United Kingdom.

During her career, Rachel has become well aware that every single business has intellectual property that they should be using and commercialising but many do not have an IP strategy due to the perceived cost or difficulties involved. She therefore established aRc Legal in 2015 to help make intellectual property protection more accessible and affordable for everyone.

This Workshop is $1150pp including GST and Humanitix booking fees.
Course fees include morning tea & lunch (all dietary requirements can be catered for) and on-site parking.
