Program Schedule (Both Days)
9:30 AM - Welcome & Registration
Focus: Get to know your workshop cohort with icebreaker activities, check-in on your current musical and technical challenges plus set your intention for the day.
10:00 AM - Group Warm-Up
Focus: Warm-up exercises on and away from the instrument, tone production exercises, posture principles, bowing and right-arm set-up, plus visualization exercises to increase focus and improve concentration.
10:30 AM - Technical Lab 1: Left-Hand Accuracy and Dexterity (45 mins)
Focus: Shifting (Develop micro and macro shifting mechanics up, down and across strings), vibrato, thumb position, double stopping, chordal playing and tricks and tips for developing upper position passages.
11:15 AM - Morning Tea
11:45 AM - Technical Lab 2: Bowing Bootcamp (45 mins)
Focus: Deepen your ‘on and off’ strokes such as spiccato, sautille, ricochet, slurred, hooked bows, sustained legato, bow speed, weight, contact point, and bow division.
12:30 PM - Cello Duet Session 1: Baroque Repertoire (60 mins)
Focus: Deepen your ensemble skills through non-verbal communication cues for leading and following, develop your confidence in rhythmic passages, sight-reading, articulation, and how to collaborate, rehearse and with other musicians.
1:00 PM - Lunch by Lulu’s Table
1:45 PM - Open Masterclass Session
Focus: Individual coaching, interpretation support and pro tips for performance etiquette and audience engagement. Accompanist provided if required. Suitable for Grade 7 AMEB and above players. Repertoire choice is OPEN category. Limited spaces.
2:45 PM - Afternoon Tea
3:00 PM - Cello Duet Session 2
Final rehearsal run-through and mini group showcase.
3:30 PM - Closing Reflection Circle
Guided personal reflection time, Q&A, and goal setting.
