Intergenerational by Nature: Youth in Nature Policy in Australia (online) - Citizen COP 2026
Description
Where are the young people for biodiversity and nature?
Intergenerational equity and youth engagement have been a defining part of climate action — from fossil fuel divestment to the duty of care. But where are young people in conversations and decision-making around biodiversity and nature?
Join us online for the launch of Australia’s first youth nature network, as we explore the opportunities and possibilities for more young Australians to participate in nature policy processes, both domestically and internationally.
This event is designed for young people (35 and under), but we welcome anyone interested in learning more!
What to expect:
🌿 UNCBD 101 + Meet GYBN Australia — An introduction to the UN Convention on Biological Diversity and the Global Youth Biodiversity Network Australia.
🗣️ Launch Panel — Hear from young people engaging with nature policy on the role of youth in shaping the future of nature and biodiversity, at home and internationally.
💡Interactive Activity — Participate in a fun online exercise while helping kick off the GYBN Australia Roadmap!
Join us online and be part of shaping Australia’s youth voice for nature.

About Citizen COP Australia
Citizen COP Australia is a decentralised, people-powered movement running alongside the global COPs in 2026. Enabled by People For Nature, but intentionally independent and distributed, Citizen COP invites communities, organisations, schools, businesses, artists, and local groups across Australia to host their own events during the COP period. Rather than a single central event, Citizen COP is a nationwide network of conversations, workshops, and actions that bring global climate and nature discussions into local communities. It connects people to science, solutions, and each other, strengthening civic engagement and ensuring citizen voices contribute to Australia’s climate and nature conversations.
