Prerequisite: Completion of the Basic Key Word Sign Workshop (proof required)
This full-day Intermediate Key Word Sign Workshop is designed for those who have already completed Basic KWS training and are ready to build on their skills. You’ll expand your sign vocabulary and strengthen your confidence using Key Word Sign in daily communication. This practical and interactive workshop includes:
60–80 new signs across common themes (food, people, places, colours, animals, actions, numbers)
Introduction to two-handed fingerspelling
Strategies to support signing accuracy and fluency
Creating a communication-rich environment using KWS
Embedding signs into everyday routines and activities
Whether you are a parent, educator, support worker, therapist, or community member, this workshop offers hands-on learning to support inclusive and functional communication for people with communication support needs.
Important:
This is the second level in the Key Word Sign workshop series. Participants must have attended the Basic KWS Workshop prior to registering. Please bring a copy of your Basic KWS certificate or evidence of attendance.
Key Word Sign is an evidence-informed approach that supports communication through the use of natural gesture, sign, speech, and visual strategies. Workshops are delivered using official Key Word Sign Australia resources and endorsed by Scope Australia.
