2026 International Coastal Cleanup Day: #SeatheChange

Since 1986, for the past 40 years, 19 million volunteers have joined the International Coastal Cleanup to collect more than 400 million pounds of plastic and debris, all the while recording what they find and helping inform research and legislation across the world.

When we clean up our home, all those that live in the ocean can #SeatheChange.

The Ruapuke coastline is unfortunately a collection point for human made debris, and the ocean currents shift the rubbish to particular spots where they break down into tiny fragments after exposure to the elements. 

September 2023, 17 of us retrieved 20.55kgs of rubbish.

September 2024, 20 of us retrieved 15.7kgs of rubbish.

• At the end of the beach clean we'll have the BBQ out for a sausage sizzle while we weight our retrieved trash. (Vegetarian sausages included) 

• Please meet us at the Ruapuke South Carpark at 9:30am for a briefing. 

• We'll walk from the South carpark to the North end and return.

• We encourage everyone to carpool a much as possible please. If you don't have transport, please get in touch.
