International Day of Recognition: Stories of Learning, Recognition and Possibility
Description
Learning happens everywhere, and it deserves to be seen.
As part of the global International Day of Recognition (June 9) led by CAPLA, join us for a 90-minute Australasian session exploring the power of recognising learning in all its forms.
This informal, community-driven session is an open invitation to come together, share stories, and reflect on how recognition is shaping learning, work, and opportunity across different contexts.
By “different contexts,” we mean learning across all of life, in formal education, in the workplace, through community and volunteering, and in the everyday experiences that build skills, capability, and identity. This session is designed as an open and curious space to explore how these forms of learning are recognised, valued, and made visible.
Whether you are working in education, industry, community settings, or policy, or simply interested in how learning is acknowledged and understood, you are welcome to join the conversation.
This session is an opportunity to:
Hear short stories and reflections from across education, industry, and community contexts
Share your own experiences of recognition in practice
Connect with others working in this evolving space
Explore how recognition contributes to equity, mobility, and lifelong learning
We are also using this session as a lead-in to Human Potential ePIC APAC (Melbourne, August 2026) — a space where many of these conversations will continue and deepen.
We’d love to include a range of voices.
When you register, you’ll have the option to let us know if you would like to:
Share a short story or example (3–5 minutes)
Contribute a perspective or reflection
Showcase a practice, project, or idea
We’ll follow up to shape a simple, engaging flow for the session.
Who should attend?
This session is open to anyone interested in:
Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL)
Microcredentials and digital credentials
Skills recognition and skills literacy
Workforce learning and capability development
Equity, access, and lifelong learning
Whether you’re working in policy, education, industry, or simply curious — you’re welcome.
Your hosts:
Wendy Palmer – Director, Lifelong Learning Practice

This session is supported by the Australasian Microcredential Network (AMCN).
