    Event description

International Women’s Day is an opportunity to honour women’s achievements, spotlight their visibility and advocate for an inclusive world.

Join us for a special lunch on Friday 8 March, as we embrace the 2024 global theme: Accelerating gender equality through economic empowerment.

You’ll hear from esteemed female leaders including our keynote speakers, Rochelle Courtenay, Founder of Share the Dignity; and Mindy Woods, Owner and Operator of Karkalla Byron Bay.

Ms Courtenay in 2015  founded Share the Dignity, a national charity with a mission to ensure everyone is afforded the dignity in life that so many of us take for granted.

Share the Dignity supports those who menstruate and who are experiencing or at risk of homelessness, domestic violence, or poverty, through the distribution of period products and donations of bags containing essential items.

Ms Woods is a proud Bundjalung Widjabul Wia-bul woman who has followed her dreams of opening her restaurant on Ancestral country, fuelled by a desire to create opportunities for Indigenous and non-Indigenous peoples to connect with Aboriginal culture, art and stories through food.

A desire to reconnect with family and culture in mid-2020 saw Ms Woods make the brave decision, during the COVID-19 pandemic, to relocate from Sydney to Byron Bay and open her very own native-inspired restaurant, Karkalla.

Save the date for this inspirational event, where together, we'll drive momentum towards a more equitable future.
