    Event description

The 2024 International Women's Day breakfast, hosted by the Ethnic Communities Council of Queensland (ECCQ)'s Women's Ethnic Network (WEN) will be held again in the picturesque Victoria Park on Friday 8th March from 7:00am, for a 7:20am start. This year, the theme is:

Count Her In: Invest in Women. Accelerate Progress.

This focus on economic empowerment reinforces what we know to be a key factor impacting women, particularly as those who are not economically empowered are more likely to be vulnerable to coercive control, and financial abuse.

Join hundreds of multicultural women for an illuminating breakfast set to recognise the valuable contribution of women to Queensland, uplift women in our community, and celebrate emerging leaders! We will be announcing the winners of the ECCQ Advancing Women Scholarships: the Cleo Xynias Multicultural Woman of the Year scholarship, and the Emerging Professional scholarship.

We have three amazing guest speakers: Naa Anang, Juliana Mantilla, and Hon Minister Shannon Fentiman!

Naa Anang is Ghana-born athlete who is currently ranked in the top 10 Australian women’s 100m, and continues to represent Australia at a high level and inspire many women to pursue their sport dreams.

Juliana Mantilla is a Colombian-born experienced government consultant, advocate and program manager currently working as the Workplace Program Manager at Challenge DV, committed to increasing awareness and supporting people to heal, feel safe and find a new path forward.

Shannon Fentiman is Queensland’s Minister for Health and Ambulance Services, Minister for Mental Health and Minister for Women, demonstrating her commitment and passion to ensure social justice, gender equality, ending discrimination, and creating fair, safe and just community.

Don't miss out on hearing these important stories! Be prepared to join in our raffle and win some incredible prizes!

Come along, be counted and connect with our wonderful WEN women!

Please RSVP by Friday the 1st of March, 2024. Spaces are limited, so get in now!
