Event description

Sascha entered the Royal Australian Air Force (RAAF) on 06 Oct 1998 as an enrolled nurse

and posted to 6 Hospital, Laverton (VIC) where she deployed to Timor on active duty three

times, in 1999, 2002 and then again in 2003 with the United Nations’ focus of peace

keeping. She posted to Amberley, QLD where she conducted further studies to complete a

Bachelor of Nursing in 2006.

She deployed for a fourth time, this time to Qatar as the Sargeant Medical Assistant where

she received a Joint Task Group commendation. Upon return in 2007, she was successful

with her application to Commission to Officer and completed the mandatory two years

nursing experience at Prince Charles Hospital in Chermside prior to being posted back to

Amberely as an Instructor.

After a few years, Sascha was posted (followed the love of her life and all-round top bloke of

a husband) to Townsville and Adelaide as the Officer in Charge of the health detachments

and managed to complete her post graduate studies in rural and remote health. During this

posting Sascha deployed on short notice back to the Middle East and on return to Australia,

immediately to Melbourne without seeing her family, as the lead of the RAAF health

contingent for COVID Assist in Melbourne.

Sascha discharged in 2019, where she commenced working at Beaudesert Hospital in the

Emergency Department for two years. Sascha feels most content working with people and

feeling connected in the community where she has lived in Canungra for the last five years.

She has been active with several organisations including Turning Canungra Pink, Moriarty

Park Community Sporting Centre and Canungra Chamber of Commerce.

From here, she ventured forth to start her own business as the Sole Trader of Scenic Rim

Nursing Care, through which she cares for some of the most vulnerable people in the

community including the elderly, NDIS clients and Anglicare clients with humour and

dedication.

She is married to a serving Army Officer (the love of her life), has two great kids, is a Zumba

instructor, loves singing, music and nature.
