Intersectionality in Research

This event has passed Get tickets

Event description

This live event hosted by the Women in Research Network (WiRN) will discuss the experiences of women in research that identify as members of multiple minority groups or have diverse backgrounds that have led to compounding exposure to discrimination (intersectionality). By focusing on how our experiences as women, specifically those centred in research, are multidimensional and affected by many aspects of our social identity we hope to raise awareness of this component of diversity and of the different barriers women from diverse backgrounds might encounter.

Attendance in person is preferred but we will also be streaming the event with opportunities for online attendees to also ask questions of the panel. We will update this event description with the event link when it becomes available and attempt to send it through to all those that register. This event will not be recorded so that we can have an open discussion on this important topic and share personal experiences.

Our speakers are Ina Oestroem (https://unswhoexgroup.com/ina-...), Chasna Harper (https://www.unsw.edu.au/engine...) and Dr Sarah Jane Moore (https://nam12.safelinks.protec...). The event with be moderated by the co-chairs of WiRN, Frances Byrne and Sam Miles.

We look forward to seeing you there!
