Intertwined Recordings Presents: Headhunters (live)
Description
Intertwined Recordings shifts into gear for the June long weekend, gathering some of the country's sharpest underground talent in one room.
Headhunters (Guy Contact & Solar Suite) bring the live set, joined by Mikalah Watego (Naarm), Elijah Something (Eora), Loaf (Eora) and Rowhan (Eora). To cap it off, special performances will be curated across the night.
HEADHUNTERS:
The collaborative project of Guy Contact and Solar Suite, formed in Naarm (Melbourne) following Guy’s relocation from Boorloo (Perth). Sharing a makeshift home studio, the pair naturally developed a cohesive musical style that extends across both studio production
and live performance. Leaning into expansive, dub-soaked synth work with pumping house grooves reminiscent of the turn of the century, the duo carve out a sound that bridges early-millennium inspiration and a modern dancefloor sensibility with a considered and tactful approach. Alongside the launch of their label Strange Cargo, Headhunters introduce their debut Mojo.
MIKALAH WATEGO:
Mikalah Watego brings a sound that moves fluidly between bass, techno, breaks and experimental rhythms - emotive melodies threaded through dancefloor weight. Fresh off a run including Pitch, GLITCH and a growing list of warehouse bookings, she's one of the most exciting voices in the Australian underground right now.
ELIJAH SOMETHING:
Elijah Something is one of Sydney's quietly prolific dance heroes, weaving breaks, electro and acid into long, hypnotic sets that build rather than batter. He runs two labels - Conspiracy and the more recent Something in the Air - and keeps a steady output moving, from the Clovelly Concoctions EP to collaborative outings with Nate S.U. Expect a warm, melodic arc that drifts between breakbeat, prog and trance, always pushing toward the next horizon.
LOAF:
A staple selector to Sydney's underground scene, Loaf brings a unique blend of house and prog. Coming off the back of Euca festival, her bag is deeper than her tunes.
ROWHAN:
Founder of Intertwined Recordings and one of the minds behind Extract The Motion, Rowhan is well versed as a selector of all sounds. With foundations in 90’s house that developed into an unapologetic appetite for gritty breaks and bass, he’s known for his ability to thread the needle across genres and soundscapes thus making a name for himself as a complete all-rounder. His production reflects this.
