Event description

Graeme Gunn (1933 – 2024) is remembered as an esteemed architect, admired for his work across the Plumbers and Gasfitters Union Building and Winter Park housing estate, and as the founding Dean of Architecture at RMIT University. RMIT is proud to be the custodian of a substantial archive of his practice, held in the collections of the Design Archives.

This edition of the RMIT Design Archives Journal honours Graeme’s life and architecture. The Guest Editors, RMIT University Architecture's Senior Lecturer, Dr. Christine Phillips, Associate Professor Conrad Hamann, and Associate Lecturer Thomas Muratore, invited peers and scholars to write articles and reflections about Graeme’s contribution to domestic and commercial architecture, and education.

Join us on Tuesday November 19 at 6PM in the RMIT Design Hub Lecture Theatre to launch this special issue.  Dr. Christine Phillips will lead a conversation with architects Ian McDougall, Karl Fender, and Sophie Dyring to reflect on Graeme Gunn's work in the sphere's of domestic and commercial architecture, and education.

The Journal has been designed by Stephen Banham, Letterbox, and will be available as both digital and hard copy.
