One of Stephen Sondheim's most popular musicals, Into The Woods intertwines the plots of several Brothers Grimm fairy tales. 

The story follows a Baker and his wife, who wish to have a child. When the two of them learn that they cannot have a child because of a Witch's curse, they set off on a journey into the woods to break the curse. 

In the woods, they come across Cinderella, who wishes to attend the King's Festival, Jack, who wishes his cow would give milk, Rapunzel, who yearns for freedom, amongst many other well-known characters. All the characters navigate their way through the woods to achieve their wishes. However, once everyone's wish is granted, the consequences of their actions return to haunt them later, with disastrous results.
