Towards a Better Life: A Two Day Introduction to Social Role Valorization (SRV) - 2 Day Workshop - BRISBANE, QLD

About this Workshop: 

Learn a framework that helps give meaning and depth and helps to make the most of contemporary opportunities! This workshop explores how getting valued roles can lead to changed societal perceptions and strengthen the likelihood that people with a devalued status will get a better life.
The core themes and principles of SRV will be explored through presentations, exercises and discussions. Completion allows entry to the 5 day practicum, PASSING.

About the Trainers

Amie Storer

Amie Storer has worked in many roles within the community sector and brings an enthusiasm for SRV and supporting individuals to access the good things in life. Whilst recently attaining accreditation, she also manages a community organisation anchored in SRV: Better Together. Amie is a Board member of the Australian SRV Association (ASRVA) and is passionate about sharing her learnings of SRV to shape her management style, and to educate her staff and community about what is possible for marginalised individuals.

Lindie Brengman

Lindie Brengman has worked as an Occupational Therapist with children and adults and is currently a Senior Facilitator at CRU, working on the 'Families for Inclusive Education' project since it began in 2019. Through her own experience advocating for her daughter with disability, Lindie developed a passion for sharing the importance of an inclusive education, and is a founding member of the Queensland Collective for Inclusive Education. She finds SRV ideas extremely important in planning with her daughter for a good life, and is passionate about teaching SRV so other vulnerable people and those that care about them can benefit.

Who Should Attend:

This workshop is designed for participants from a range of sectors (disability, aged care, mental health, youth etc). This will include support workers, coordinators, family members, people with disabilities, people with a mental illness and older people receiving services. Participants will be people who are looking for ways of meeting the real needs of marginalised people, resulting in a better lives.

Event details:

  • June 5th and June 6th (participants must attend both days)
  • On day 1, please arrive at 8:15 AM to sign in, for an 8:45 AM start. Concludes at 5:00 PM.
  • On day 2, please arrive at 8:30 AM to sign in, for a 9:00 AM start. Concludes at 5:00 PM.

Cost:

  • Standard: $385 plus booking fees
  • Concession: $130 plus booking fees
  • Morning tea, lunch, and afternoon tea will be provided. Please note any essential dietary requirements in your registration.
