Introduction to Accessibility and Inclusion for Leisure & Sports Community Organisation
Event description
In May 2024, GetAboutAble is delivering 2 free webinars for sports and recreation-focused community organisations in the Canberra Region
This is the first of those 2 webinars, it is an Introduction to Accessibility and Inclusion of People With Disability. We start with the basics to build disability awareness amongst members, staff and volunteers:
- What is accessibility? What is inclusion? Why both?
- There are 80,000 Canberrans with disability, who are they and what are some basic principles to include them?
Content will be tailored to organisations that run with few to no staff and welcome the general public for leisure
activities of any kind.
Why join?
Did you know there are 1 in 5 Canberrans with disability? Taking a step forward in terms of access and inclusion
is a great way for leisure & sports-focused community organisations to:
- Widen the interest and participation in your activity
- Support diversity and the inclusion of people with disability in your community
- Strengthen grant funding and award applications
Plus, it's free and delivered by GetAboutAble's team of experts in accessibility and
inclusion.
Our 2nd webinar is about "How to provide good accessibility information" - Register for May 21st for free.
