Hi there

This is Nelson Eulálio, the founder of Wild & Wise Tribe, holistic counsellor, outdoor educator and facilitator of the Intro to Bush Skills, Mindfulness and Survival Skills workshop this Sunday at Yandina, on the Sunshine Coast. Thanks again for enrolling your child(ren) in the workshop!

The venue is private (my residence), 4 acres on the beautiful ridge of the Mapleton National Park. It is about 7 minutes drive from Yandina town, through the National Park. There is a Google pin to the meetup area where is possible to park multiple cars. Myself and my assistant will be waiting for you there for check-in, and from there we will walk 50m to the property, which is at street number 439, the second entrance on the left past the car park area.

Checkin time is 8:30am for an 8:45am start. There is limited phone reception there. In the property there is wi-fi which allows communication if necessary and little bit of Optus reception for SMS.

Just a few things to touch bases regarding the workshop so everyone can get the best experience:

Please make sure that your child is wearing enclosed shoes, sun-smart clothes (and sunscreen), a hat and bring a water bottle. There is a chance of rain, so please also bring a rain jacket. They can bring also spare clothes.
The workshop will run even if it is a rainy day. That is part of the outdoor education life and especially for survival skills and building resilience :) We have a few areas undercover in any case. The only reason to pause/cancel an outdoor workshop is due to a lightning storm within 30km or too much rainfall in the night/day before that could raise the levels of the York Creek water crossing. Please note that it is safe to cross by a 2WD car when the water is running over the bridge, as long as it is not higher than 5 inches.

There will be dampers (to be made by the kids) and some fruits and cordial offered by us, but please make sure your kid bring lunch and snacks (they are usually very hungry wildlings). If your kid is gluten-free there will be a GF option for the damper but please advise us prior. If you have any questions/concerns about that, please reach me on 0402 917 617 (Nelson) the day before.
On the same note, if your child has any food allergy or anaphylaxis, please advise us and make sure you bring their EpiPen. Same for Ashma, please bring the puffer if necessary. Any other medication has to be administered by a parent or guardian.
PLEASE NOTE: On the behavioural note, if your child needs special needs and/or close assistance and care, we’ll need you to stay with him/her for the whole workshop to help manage behaviour. We'll be under the pump running the show and do not want to call you to pick your child up because they aren’t following instructions or safety guidelines :)
There will be some theoretical delivery on a whiteboard, so a notebook and pen are very beneficial for your child to bring. It is also a way to create a healthy habit of journaling experiences in nature, reflections, etc.
Please make sure you sign in to the drop-off list and the waiver before leaving. (You can download the waiver here, please sign it and send back by email or bring it when dropping your child). Parents are welcome to stay a bit longer until the child feels more connected to the other children and instructors.
We will take some photos/videos of the event to use on Wild & Wise Tribe social media and website context only. If you don't want to give consent for your child, please advise us by writing at the check-in/drop-off.
There is parking only at the pin drop area, which is in front of a community hall. From around 2pm we'll be doing the conclusion of the workshop and handling some certificates. It is a great time for to parents be around and support their children. Please feel free to come up around 1:30pm if you want to join the shelters project and have little chat with me. The car must be parked at the pin and you will walk up to the number 439, up to the Fire Brigade. (1-2 minutes walk)
Yandina town has a few nice coffee shops that will be open. We recommend Kismet Espresso and Lawn Espresso. If you haven’t done the tour at Ginger Factory that is also an option close by. Good options for parents to enjoy whilst the kids are in the workshop. :)
