    Intro to Old Time Sessions

Introduction to Old Time Sessions is a family friendly instrumental workshop for string band musicians of all ages and skill levels.

Bring along your violin/fiddle, viola, banjo, guitar, mandolin, ukulele, double bass or cello and learn how to join in with a traditional Old Time music session. Learn how to ‘shuffle along’, develop deeper listening skills and build confidence learning new tunes by ear.

This 2 hour workshop will be led by local Cat Moser who is a singer and multi instrumentalist in various bands and ensembles that tour nationally and overseas. She is a community arts worker, music teacher and has recently completed her Masters of Therapeutic Arts Practice at MIECAT Institute.

While beginner players are very welcome to join in, this is not a ‘how to play your instrument’ workshop. Players who already have the basics mastered will get the most out of the session and take away resources to continue the jam at home.

All players under 18 must be accompanied by a guardian. Non-playing accompanying adults are free.

Trentham Neighbourhood Centre is fully wheelchair accessible and has accessible bathrooms.

CMVic encourages mask wearing to keep yourself and your community safe. Please do not attend if you have any symptoms, a refund will be given if illness occurs.

This event is supported by Community Music Victoria and Helen McPherson Trust as part of the Growing Community Music project.
