Intro to Playing Singing Bowls
Event description
Singing bowls have been used for meditation for thousands of years. Today they are popular in sound baths, yoga studios and as a home practice for relaxing and going inward. This hands-on class will explore the many types of singing bowls and the different ways they affect our mental, physical, and spiritual states.
Geoffrey Lamden has been using singing bowls as a practitioner and sonic explorer for well over a decade. He will explain and guide you in the use of crystal bowls, traditional hand-hammered Tibetan bowls, and today's brass bowls, all of which are created in a variety of sizes and styles to emit different tones and harmonic vibrations.
No previous experience is necessary. All the bowls will be provided but you are welcome to bring any you own as well. Whether you are interested just for fun, to know more for your own practice, or just want to check out a variety of bowls before you choose the one you want to get for yourself, this class will be full of answers, exploration, and techniques to get you in tune.
