Absolute Beginner - Learner Pass and Rental ticket
Perfect for first-timers or if you are just starting to get into skiing or boarding. Includes full equipment hire (ski/board, boots, and poles) & professional fitting from McEwings Ski & Board Hire, a Learner’s Tow pass at Cheeseman ski field, and lunch. The ticket also covers instruction from experienced exec members and qualified ski/board instructors! If you are feeling confident and want to upgrade to a full-mountain pass later on in the day, Cheeseman is offering a special 15% discount to upgrade your pass. Though the ticket does not cover snow wear (ski jacket, pants, googles, and helmet), this can be hired from McEwings at a 20% discounted cost as part of your UCGO membership. Note that clothing hire does not include gloves or appropriate underwear/thermals - you will have to source this yourself. Gear pickup from McEwings Ski & Board Hire on Yaldhurst Rd from 3pm-7pm on Friday 1st August (carpool from UCSA available @4pm). IMPORTANT NOTE! The beginner ticket is designed for absolute beginners, the Learner’s Tow is extremely limited in terms of space and terrain. If you consider yourself a beginner but have your own gear OR are comfortable with basics like stopping/starting, basic turns etc., you may be better suited looking at our Intermediate/Advanced option. If you have been skiing/boarding a couple times before, it is likely you will grow out of the Learner’s Tow fairly quickly (and you will have to pay extra to upgrade to a all-mountain full-day pass). If you need to re-gain some confidence you are welcome to join us on the Learner’s Tow in the morning with your Intermediate/Advanced pass. There will also be exec floating around who are more than happy to provide some guidance throughout the day. :) With limited Beginner tickets we would love to leave these open to first-timers/absolute beginners to make starting snowsports as affordable as possible. Perfect for those who are a bit more comfortable on the slopes; a ticket covers a full-day pass at Mt Cheeseman ski field to access the whole range of beginner to advanced-level terrain as well as lunch. If you are looking to polish up some techniques or learn a couple new skills/tricks we will also have some experienced exec and qualified instructors floating around who would be happy to provide some informal coaching throughout the day. This is also a great opportunity to ski with other sendy UCGO members, swap tips and tricks, or maybe meet your new ski/board buddy or rideshare crew! If you don’t have all the gear - don’t fret: McEwings is offering a 20% discount for all UCGO members!
