Introducing Energy Ready webinar
Event description
Energy Ready: Empowering energy resilient communities
UTS Institute for Sustainable Futures, Energy Consumers Australia, Community Power Agency and Parallel Lines warmly invite you to a special online session introducing the Energy Ready toolkit.
Australian communities are increasingly experiencing extreme weather events. Already this year, we have experienced record-breaking heat and the start of a devastating bushfire season, and experts predict these extreme conditions to continue.
We know from past events such as the bushfires in Mallacoota and the Lismore floods that environmental disasters can cause power outages through damage to power lines and infrastructure, impacting people’s ability to communicate, cook and store food, heat and cool their spaces and more.
Energy Ready responds to this by helping communities to prepare for, respond to and bounce back from disaster-related power cuts. The guidebook was developed by community members from around Australia in close collaboration with researchers and energy resilience experts.
At this interactive session, the team behind Energy Ready will:
- introduce you to the toolkit and how it was developed
- explain how you can use the toolkit to develop an energy-resilience plan for your community
- answer your questions about the toolkit and energy resilience.
Meet the panel
Energy Ready was funded by Energy Consumers Australia’s Grants Program and delivered in partnership with the UTS Institute for Sustainable Futures, the Community Power Agency and Parallel Lines.
