Description

Following the strong response to Belonging: The New Business Metric in June, NEBC is launching a Conversation Series to keep that momentum going, with sessions running every two months from September through to April. Each one builds on the last, helping members move from a shared understanding of what belonging means for the Newtown Enmore business community through to a practical plan for protecting it. NEBC is partnering with Newtown Neighbourhood Centre on the series, drawing on their experience facilitating conversations like this to help shape the format and keep the discussion moving.

Conversation One: Defining Belonging is the first session. The purpose of this first conversation is to build a shared, working definition of belonging that the rest of the series can build on, turning the insight from June's panel into something concrete: what genuine custodianship actually looks like day to day, across different types of businesses, and where purpose and profit already sit comfortably together for our members.

Expect a relaxed evening with food, a panel of local voices, and plenty of room for your own questions and stories. This is where the series begins, and we'd love you in the room for it.

Panellists:

  • Oscar McMahon (Young Henrys)

  • Pasan Wijesena (Earls Juke Joint, Jacoby’s Tiki Bar, The Magpie of Enmore, The Trocadero Room)

  • Amy Low (The Social Outfit)

  • Lucy Godorja (All Buttons Great and Small)

The panel will be led by Heleana Genaus, with audience discussions facilitated by Tom McDonald from the Newtown Neighbourhood Centre. Dates for the remaining three sessions in the series will be announced on the night.
