Introducing, Then That
Event description
Introducing, Then That!
When Megan “The Golden Warbler” Crocombe met Jesse “Mr Fingers” Kupper it wasn’t long before a dynamic duo was born.
Megan, a Queensland Conservatorium graduate and award-winning vocalist, has been performing for over 17 years. In Brisbane, she co-wrote for and fronted originals bands His Merry Men, Nomika and Lyre.
Jesse can be found wherever good music is being played in Toowoomba and the surrounds. A graduate of Brisbane’s JMI, Jesse regularly features at the Irish Club’s Jazz, Funk & Groove Jam Session.
The pair are joined by Toowoomba heavyweights Mark Chalmers (bass) and Harry Schneider (drums) and an all-Ben horn section: Ben Byrne (tenor sax, flute) and Ben Oldham (trumpet).
Along with a curated platter of jazz tunes, the collective will be playing a few tasty original compositions. Their originals explore jazz and fusion, drawing inspiration from the likes of Mike Stern, Kenny Burrell and Gregory Porter. They are currently working on their first album, due for release in 2025.
