The Introduction to Beekeeping Course consists of a 2.0 hour online theory session delivered to you live (Via ZOOM) in the comfort of your home and a 5.0 hour open hive field day at our apiary in Mirboo North covering hands on training. Their will be many opportunities to ask questions and participate in discussion. The course includes, honeybee social structure, stages of bee development, nutrition, inspecting brood, lighting a smoker, opening and reassembling a beehive safely, beekeeping equipment, identifying common pests and diseases and beekeeper responsibilities,
THE FIELD DAY WILL BE SCHEDULED FOR THE FOLLOWING SATURDAY,AFTER THE THEORY SESSION(WEATHER DEPENDING), OR RESHEDULED IF NECESSARY.
You can bring your own clean freshly laundered beekeeping suit or beekeeping suits and gloves can be hired for an additional $30
No previous beekeeping experience is necessary to register and is also relevant for beekeepers starting out with a Flow Hive.
If you have a known anaphylactic reaction to bee stings we discourage you from registering for this course.
