    • Have you wondered how to transition your procurement function towards a circular economy by challenging your need?
    • Are you struggling to get everyone on-board in adopting circular procurement?
    • Is it challenging to figure-out which trade-offs are acceptable in a procurement decision?

    Our course " Introduction to circular procurement” is for you, if these are some of your challenges!

    This course aims to: 

    • create awareness on the difference in approach in tackling circular procurement enhance understanding on relevant tools for decision making and procurement approaches to adopt in promoting a circular economy
    • provide guidance and ways of incorporating circular procurement practices within an organization

    Course content

    This in-person training will have 4 modules with each module having relevant case studies and interactive activities, with time allocated for discussion of practical problems faced.  

    The four modules presented will have the following content. 

    1. Introduction to circular procurement  
      1. Understanding differences between sustainable, green, and circular procurement  
      2. Understanding the role of policy and key activation points for circular procurement 
    2. Procuring product service systems   
      1. Understanding different types of product-service systems   
      2. Challenging the demand and pushing for outcome-oriented purchasing  
      3. Understanding how to redefine demand for circular procurement 
    3. Tools for decision making  
      1. Understanding procedural and analytical tools used for decision making  
      2. Enabling systematic evaluations involving multiple criteria
      3. Enabling the use of the full cost of ownership in procurement 
    4. Enabling circular procurement within organisations  
      1. Analysing your organisational setting for procurement transformation   
      2. Enabling innovation in procurement -Procurement for innovation approach  
      3. Enabling risk sharing and collaboration with suppliers in procurement

    About the Lead course designer and trainer

    Dr. Mayuri

    Dr. Mayuri Wijayasundara. Director, Anvarta

    Mayuri is a leading expert in strategy and transformation specialising in enablers of transition towards a circular economy. Mayuri currently leads Anvarta, a management consulting practice that advocates circular economy and helps organisations with their transition. She was also engaged as Circular Economy Expert at UN Habitat. 

    Mayuri was a tenured University academic leading multiple research programs in circular economy until 2021, where she was the Deakin Lead Investigator and a Chief Investigator for Australian Research Council funded Industrial Transformation Research Hub for Transformation of Waste Resources to Engineered Materials and Solutions for a Circular Economy (TREMS). Mayuri has authored several research articles and is a contributor to acclaimed international forums such as World Economic Forum. 

    Mayuri joined academia following a career as a senior industry practitioner for nearly a decade, where she has formulated and led programs driving strategic industrial and organisational transformation initiatives in the Asia Pacific. Mayuri obtained her PhD from the University of Melbourne and is a Chartered Global Management Accountant of CIMA, UK. She currently holds several board and advisory committee positions in public and private sector, industry bodies and professional organisations.
