Description

Do you wish you knew HOW to do more towards reconciliation ? Have you ever heard or recited an Acknowledgement to Country that was just a bit blah - and you long for more ?

Are you curious to learn local language, or work with the land, or people ? Might you be worried you might offend or upset ?

Do you long to do all that is possible to bring reconciliation to your small part of the world ?

Decolonization, reparation and regeneration of people and place is for everyone. It's time we all gathered to extend ourselves and learn a little more. It's time for courage and to dispel shame.

“This history is not your fault but it is absolutely your responsibility. Colonisation exists & persists all around us. For us to know where we want to go together, we need to know where we are & where we’ve been" (Nikki Sanchez, TEDx 2019).

How can you take the next step & give more of yourself ? How might you best thank the non-human + human beings that raised you ?

This 1 hour workshop will go deep. For this reason the course is limited to 10 people for 4 weeks. We cover basic decolonisation, fully introducing yourself (acknowledging your ancestors and their stories) and the landforms, species and spirits that whether you know it or not, you are in relationship with.....
We aim to also follow with an in-person gathering.

Ecotherapy & reconciliation processes inform us. We all are in reciprocity with one another. Reciprocity embedded in introducing ourselves helps. When we name the land that has and continues to support us and give thanks for elders and ecosystems we can begin to make reparations for our colonial past and settler trauma. Reciprocity is an underlying principle in Aboriginal society - expressions include relationship, spirit & totems. Central to reciprocity is timelessness and the interconnectedness of all things.

** Since the bushfires & COVID-19 a number of Adelaide environmentalists, healers, mindfulness coaches, eco-therapists, meditation teachers, yoga instructors, art therapists, etc., have been offering approaches to the public in response to community and individual eco-distress. These tools are not traditional capital-T therapy/mental health responses. They are not a replacement for counselling. Should people require additional support please contact the appropriate psychology or counselling services. **
