Join us for an inspiring and hands-on evening with Hamidou Horticulture, a Montreal-based grower and educator celebrated for his work preserving food traditions through the cultivation of heritage plants and vegetables.

The event begins with Hamidou sharing his personal journey - from his early connection to growing food to his mission today of empowering communities through culturally significant agriculture. He’ll introduce a variety of heritage vegetables and traditional crops (such as Moroccan Mint, African Spinach, Red Okra etc.), offering insights into how they can be grown locally and sustainably. A Q&A session will follow, giving guests the chance to dive deeper into his knowledge and experience.

From there, guests will roll up their sleeves for a planting activity, learning how to make cuttings and pot a plant of their choice to take home. The evening will close with a chance to connect further with Hamidou, explore his curated selection of seeds available for purchase, and continue the conversation one-on-one.

Whether you're a seasoned gardener or simply curious about growing something new, this event is a beautiful way to deepen your connection to food, culture, and community.

Participez à une soirée inspirante et pratique avec Hamidou Horticulture, un horticulteur et éducateur basé à Montréal, reconnu pour son travail de préservation des traditions alimentaires à travers la culture de plantes et légumes patrimoniaux.

La soirée débutera par le récit du parcours personnel de Hamidou – de ses premières expériences avec la culture alimentaire jusqu’à sa mission actuelle : autonomiser les communautés grâce à une agriculture porteuse de sens culturel. Il présentera une variété de légumes patrimoniaux et de cultures traditionnelles (comme la menthe marocaine, les épinards africains, le gombo rouge, etc.), et offrira des conseils sur la manière de les cultiver localement et de façon durable. Une séance de questions-réponses suivra, offrant aux participants l’occasion d’approfondir leurs connaissances et d’échanger avec lui.

Ensuite, les invités mettront la main à la terre lors d’un atelier de plantation. Ils apprendront à faire des boutures et à rempoter une plante de leur choix à emporter chez eux. La soirée se conclura par un moment convivial pour échanger davantage avec Hamidou, découvrir sa sélection soignée de semences disponibles à l'achat, et poursuivre la conversation en tête-à-tête.
