Introduction to making accessible documents: September 2025
Event description
‘Accessibility’ means making your work available to the widest possible audience by considering the needs of many possible users. It is especially important for readers with disability, but accessible communications are clearer, more focused and more direct, and benefit every reader.
This practical, interactive online course will give you tips and tricks to create accessible tables and figures, and write and structure text to meet Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) international standards.
By the end of this course, you should be able to:
explain why accessible documents are useful, and how accessibility features can be readily implemented with little extra effort
make documents that meet the relevant WCAG standards (for example, the Australian Government mandates that agencies comply with WCAG 2.2 Level AA)
make tables and graphics that are accessible
use Word styles to improve document accessibility
write text that is easy to read and understand.
