Join us for the Introduction to Māori Healing Arts Wananga, facilitated by Mareikura Chelita Kahutianui o te Rangi Zainey (Waitaha/Ngāpuhi/Ngāti Kahu/Ngāti Rānui) and her esteemed whānau of Tohunga

Chelita has over a decade’s experience serving Rongoā Māori across Aotearoa, Australia, Bali and the U.S. She has been training and mentoring people in Māori Healing for many years.

Her passion is inspiring others to awaken the gifts within through devotion, practice and mastery. To provide CONNECTION COMMUNITY & MANAAKITANGA to all.

This immersive workshop is designed for anyone seeking deeper connections and understanding in the Māori healing arts whether for yourself, your whānau or wider community.

WHAT YOU WILL EXPERIENCE

Foundational Knowledge: Discover the core principles of Māori Healing Arts. This course lays the groundwork for deeper learning, offering you a pathway toward mastery in your healing practice.

Diverse Modalities: Explore various Māori healing techniques, including Mirimiri, Romiromi, Rongoā Māori, and Taonga Pūoro, along with an introduction to @hau_tapu_breathwork.

Holistic Approach: Engage with the holistic model of Māori Healing through the lens of Te Ao Māori, enriching your understanding of wellbeing.

Spiritual Practices:  Learn about essential concepts such as Tikanga & Kawa (protocols/lores) Karakia (prayer), Purea/Whakawatea (cleansing sacred spaces), and Māori diagnostic systems, among many others.

Community and Support: This is an inclusive event OPEN TO ALL ages, genders, and cultures. We welcome practitioners of all levels, experience and backgrounds. All tamariki and pepe are welcome.

The Māori Healing Arts Wananga includes several key techniques that provide a comprehensive understanding of Māori healing practices. Here are some of the primary sujects we will cover

  • Mirimiri: A traditional form of massage focused on physical and emotional healing.

  • Romiromi: A deeper, more intensive massage technique that aims to release emotional blockages and promote overall wellbeing.

  • Rongoā Māori: The use of native plants and herbal remedies for healing purposes, integrating traditional knowledge with natural medicine.

  • Taonga Pūoro: The use of traditional Māori musical instruments to create sound healing, promoting relaxation and spiritual connection.

  • Hau Tapu Breathwork: An introduction to breathwork techniques that enhance mindfulness and emotional release.

  • Karakia: Spiritual prayers and blessings that establish a divine connection and set intentions for healing.

  • Purea/Whakawatea: Techniques for cleansing and clearing sacred spaces, promoting a positive environment for healing.

  • Māori Diagnostic Systems: Understanding how to assess wellbeing through Māori frameworks, including the balance of tapu (sacred) and noa (ordinary).

  • Elemental Magick: Engaging with the natural elements to enhance healing practices.

  • Mareikura/Whatukura: Exploring the divine feminine and masculine energies within Māori healing.

These techniques collectively aim to deepen participants' understanding of Māori healing philosophies and practices, fostering a holistic approach to health and wellbeing.
