THE BENEFITS OF MINDFULNESS

Mindfulness means “paying attention in a particular way; On purpose, in the present moment, and non-judgmentally.”

— Jon Kabat Zinn (Professor of Medicine Emeritus Stress Reduction Clinic and the Centre for Mindfulness in Medicine).

The benefits of regular mindfulness practice are…

✅ Reduced stress and anxiety
✅ Improved sleeping patterns
✅ Less self-judgement and more self-acceptance
✅ Greater feelings of joy and freedom
✅ Improved mental health
✅ Effective ways to work with difficult thoughts and emotions

“Mindfulness helps you to keep your thoughts in the present moment. As you practice, you tend to get better at calming the mind and keeping things in perspective. ”

MEET YOUR FACILITATOR CHANI GRIEVE

Hi, I'm Chani.

I'm glad you've found your way here, and I'm excited to be part of your learning journey with mindfulness and meditation.

I always say that mindfulness is simple, but not easy! However, it offers a genuine pathway to a more satisfying and peaceful way of living that will reward you over and over throughout your life.

In my own mindfulness journey I have been motivated by two main things - my own struggles and difficulties in life, and also my deep questions about life, the universe and everything in it! I've gone to a lot of effort to try to understand not only my own mind, but the human mind in general, so that I can support others to do the same. My biggest learnings have come through hardship, health challenges, learning to live with chronic anxiety, and the inevitable ways that life requires us to learn something new, and to do things differently. I have also been very lucky to have been mentored by many truly inspiring and competent teachers.

I have had a dedicated meditation practice for over 17 years now, undertaking annual personal retreats, and have been teaching mindfulness classes, workshops and retreats in both New Zealand and Australia since 2012. Although the learning never ends, I can honestly say that mindfulness has become a way of life for me.

I also work as a Feldenkrais Practitioner and Embodiment Trainer and am passionate about helping people connect with the intelligence of our bodies as the foundation of our practice.

I live in Nelson with my partner and our young daughter, walking the challenging yet satisfying path of integrating inner growth with parenthood and the nitty gritty of everyday life. My passion is in supporting participants to connect with their inspiration, trust their own experience, and use their practice to contribute to a healthier, happier, saner world.

As a Mindfulness Works Certified Trainer and Mentor my goal is to guide you toward greater calm, clarity and self-acceptance. Through my business, Movement from the Heart, I help people like you feel better within themselves and navigate life’s stresses with more creativity, ease and joy.

I look forward to working with you.
