ABOUT THIS EVENT

An Introduction to Mindfulness and Meditation 4-week course. 

Each class is one hour, once per week. 

This course will run on 4 consecutive Thursday evenings, 6:30pm - 7:30pm, February 13th, 20th, 27th, March 6th 2025

It will be held at Pūtangitangi Greenmeadows Centre - Kotuku Room - Corner of Songer St and Main Road Stoke. 

This course is practical, non-religious and designed for beginners. 

The course includes

  • 4 classes with an experienced, certified mindfulness trainer
  • Downloadable guided mindfulness meditations for you to keep

Week 2: Mindfulness and the thinking mind

  • Why thinking can be problematical
  • Practical ways to work with difficult thoughts
  • Self-judgement and how to intervene
  • Guided mindfulness meditation — counting the breath.

Week 3: Mindfulness and emotions

  • How emotions provide information
  • How to ‘apply the brakes’ when feeling emotions
  • Non-judgement and acceptance
  • Guided mindfulness meditation on feelings or creative visualisation.

Week 4: Radical Acceptance

  • Allowing everything to be as it is 
  • Recognising your inherent OKness
  • Developing wisdom and insight
  • Authentic self-compassion
  • Open awareness guided mindfulness meditation

YOUR FACILITATOR IS CHANI GRIEVE

Chani has had a dedicated meditation practice for over 17 years, undertaking annual personal retreats, and has been teaching mindfulness classes, workshops and retreats in both New Zealand and Australia since 2012.

Chani works as a Feldenkrais Practitioner and Embodiment Trainer and is passionate about helping people connect with the intelligence of their bodies as the foundation of our practice. She has particular experience and skill in offering trauma-informed mindfulness practice, and is the creator of The Embodiment Journey; a 5-month embodiment training program.

She lives in Nelson with her partner and their young daughter, walking the challenging and deeply satisfying path of integrating inner growth with parenthood and the nitty gritty of everyday life. She supports participants to connect with their inspiration, trust their own experience, and use their practice to contribute to a healthier, happier, saner world.
