Event description

This comprehensive four session course covers the essentials of mindfulness meditation that so many have found fundamental to authentic transformation. It's idea for beginners and experienced meditators alike. (Depending on interest, we can extend to six sessions.)

Each session of approximately 75 minutes will provide a grounding meditation, plenty of guidance and instruction on core mindfulness practices such as working with the breath, the body, thoughts, emotions, and cultivating greater senses of presence, peace, freedom, and kindness. All of the instructions are designed to be accessible and relevant for life in the modern world, and to help you find a greater sense of freedom and ease in your own life, starting from the very first class. Each session will also provide ample time for answering your questions, putting on the kettle for a cuppa or sharing a nibble, and connecting and building community among course participants.

What will you "get"? In this course we will learn (or for the experienced, reground the basics) of how mindfulness meditation can help us slow down, connect with our inner world, and then use that awareness to really tap into our most authentic experiences. Learning how to slow down and pay attention to what is going on inside our bodies and minds, to "cultivate a kind, friendly presence," enables us to tune in to our own individual human experience in a way that opens us to the possibility of more freedom, more kindness, more joy in our lives. There are so many exciting and important things going on in the world around us. Seldom are we taught the importance and value of also paying attention to the world of experience within our minds and bodies. Yet our inner worlds define our understanding of our experiences, memories, relationships, and opportunities. You will leave with knowledge of how to cultivate these skills for yourself, and hopefully with a group of others who will help support you in your practice.

Feeling intimidated? If you are completely new to meditation, a 15-20 minute "sit" may seem impossible, but that is exactly what this course will help you do-- recognise how to work with and listen to yourself and find that inner quiet that already exists, but which can seem difficult to access and cultivate. If this were rocket science, it probably won't be so popular, so this is a chance to believe in yourself and see what you can discover.

If this course speaks to you in any way, please let me know. I will be delighted and honored to message about it or chat by phone.

This course is offered freely to anyone with a sincere interest and willingness to commit to regular attendance and practice. No one will be turned away for lack of resources, though donations from the heart to help cover the technology costs are also gratefully and graciously accepted (suggested donation $40).
