Introduction to Needle Lace
Event description
Are you intrigued by the intricate needle lace of Maggie Hensel-Brown’s work in the current exhibition, Women in Stitches? Then book in to the 2-day workshop at NERAM taught by Maggie! No experience necessary.
Needle lace is a delicate and beautiful technique dating back to the early 16th century. It is a slow and mindful textile technique. Full of rich and sumptuous detail, but based on very simple stitches.
In this workshop, you’ll learn all the basics. Setting up your piece, working a series of intricate ground stitches, creating raised borders, and finishing off. You’ll end up with a piece in the shape of a pair of cheeky knickers!
All materials provided. BYO refreshments/lunch (Six Counties café will be open).
