Introduction to NGS and Bioinformatics Analysis (Oct 2025)
Event description
This workshop is an introduction to next generation sequencing technologies and how they work, along with hands-on, practical training in common bioinformatics workflows, standardised file types, quality control and the Galaxy Australia bioinformatics platform.
This workshop runs over two mornings from 9:00 am to 1:00pm AEST, Wednesday 15th and Thursday 16th October 2025. Please only register if you can commit to attendig both days.

What should I bring into the event?
This is an online workshop, so you will need to provide your own computer and have access to a reliable internet connection sufficient for video conferencing. A second monitor is highly recommended.
What prior experience do I need?
None - the workshop gives a full introduction to both next-generation sequencing technologies and the Galaxy bioinformatics platform.
Who should attend?
The workshop is designed for biologists, other life scientists, and computer scientists planning to work with next-generation sequencing data.

What's the cancellation policy?
Cancellations are accepted up to three working days before the start of the workshop. If you are a using a QCIF member ticket and do not join on the day without having cancelled beforehand, you may be blocked from attending any future QCIF training workshops.
