Event description

Know that you'd like to involve consumers, carers, people with lived experience, family or community members in your work but aren't quite sure where to start?

This session is an introduction to some of the things to consider when thinking about working with consumers and carers in health.

We'll cover:

  • Why engage or partner with consumers?
  • Who do we mean when we say consumers?
  • What do we mean when we say involvement and engagement?
  • Different types of engagement
  • Engaging with people from vulnerable groups
  • What consumer engagement mechanisms exist across the system?
  • What are some possible opportunities?
  • What support is available to help you?

Who is this session for?
Recommendation 4 of the Sustainable Health Review is to commit to new approaches to support citizen and community partnership in the design, delivery and evaluation of  sustainable health and social care services and reported outcomes.

This session is aimed at any staff in health services across WA who is interested in learning more about engaging with consumers, carers, people with lived experience, family or community members.

This session will be presented by Tania Harris from Health Consumers' Council. The session will be presented online via Teams. If you are attending via Teams, the link will be sent out to you in the week before the event.

If you have any questions about this session, contact info@hconc.org.au

Health Consumers' Council was established in 1994 as an independent voice for consumers and the community on all issues to do with health and healthcare. HCC receives funding from the WA Department of Health to support this workshop.
