Description: You will learn how to draw up a ‘basic’ pattern, so you won’t be limited to ‘bought’ patterns. Learn to confidently make size adjustments, confidently draft a pattern. This is not a TAFE course, just an introduction.
Duration: 3 hours, with a break (access to coffee machine)
Content: What is pattern making? How does a flat pattern turn into a three dimensional garment (that fits you)? What tools do I need: What is a block? What resources are available? What is ease? What information do I need to write on my new pattern pieces?
Exercises: Draft an A-line skirt from the skirt block (‘fold out the dart’); Draft a flutter sleeve from the sleeve block (‘cut and spread’); More if time permits!
Bring: ruler (>500mm), sticky tape, paper glue, pens and pencils, eraser, paper scissors, set square, French curve (if you have one)
