Join us for an exciting opportunity to learn about peer support, connect with others and build your confidence!
Diversity and Disability Alliance (DDA) warmly invites people with disability, families and allies to join our Introduction to Peer Support Training.
This friendly and interactive training includes 3 sessions where we will explore what peer support means, share experiences and learn from each other.
What will you learn?
Session 1: What is Peer Support? (online) 30 October, 3pm-5pm
Explore what peer support means, who is involved, and why, where and when peer support happens.
Session 2: Building a Peer Movement (online) 6 November, 3pm-5pm
Learn how we can build a strong peer movement of people with disability, families and allies, and ways to support and encourage each other.
Session 3: Skills for Peer Support (in person) 13 November, 10.30am-1.30pm
Explore the values and practical skills for peer support.
Our final session will be held in person in Bankstown (exact venue TBC), with a certificate presentation and a celebration of everyone's achievements. It's a great opportunity to connect with other participants and celebrate what we have learned together!
Who can join?
You don't need any previous experience in peer support. Just bring your interest, ideas and willingness to learn and connect with others!
This training is also the first step for anyone interested in becoming a Peer Facilitator or Peer Mentor.
Come along, meet new people, share your experiences and be part of a growing peer support community!
We look forward to welcoming you!
