Introduction to Practice Skills

This training is open to all health and allied health care practitioners who may provide support to people needing pregnancy decision making counselling. 

This workshop considers the practical counselling skills needed in the context of pregnancy options. It will enhance understanding how to have these conversations with clients. How to navigate different types of case presentations and practical skills to manage different scenarios.  

Learning outcomes: 
  

    • Learning how to deal with client emotional responses
    • Intersection of pregnancy, intimate partner violence and reproductive coercion – responding to disclosure  
    • A trauma informed approach to termination of pregnancy care 
    • Counselling: Core Practice Skills and frameworks  
    • Responding to common themes and issues: case studies and discussion 
    • Discussion, reflection and self-care
