This entry-level Online Weaving Course is perfect for anyone interested in learning the skills of tapestry weaving.
Starting with the basics, this course comes with a handbook and step-by-step instructional videos made by our ATW weaving team.
Through instructional videos filmed by the Australian Tapestry Workshop team you will learn how to weave simple shapes and lines while exploring colour, pattern and texture using high-quality ATW dyed yarn. These step-by-step instructions will take you through tapestry weaving fundamentals such as setting up your loom, as well as basic weaving techniques including shapes, joins, hatching and finishing off. On completing the Introduction to Tapestry Weaving Course you will have learnt the basic techniques to produce small-scale geometric tapestries.
Developed by experienced ATW weavers, our Introduction to Tapestry Weaving Course gives you access to instructional videos and a comprehensive digital course handbook in three modules.
The digital handbook is designed to be used alongside the videos to provide further instruction, making it simple to learn the intricacies of tapestry weaving from the comfort of your own home.

You will need to supply your own:
Loom (approx. 60 x 40cm, without notches)
Bobbin/s
Yarn (2/18 tapestry wool or similar, at least 50 grams each of 5 contrasting colours)
Warp (No. 18, approx. 45m)
Large “tapestry” sewing needle (No. 18 or 22 recommended), scissors, sewing thread, masking tape, ruler, a marker and pencil.
