For the last 15 years The Yoga Foundation has supported vulnerable and at-risk groups with yoga, and led the way with teaching trauma-informed yoga to aid recovery. For the first time we are sharing our deep domain expertise in a new teacher training.

We have designed an accessible, interactive 3 hour workshop that provides yoga teachers with evidence, information, insights, practical tips, and ideas for creating an appropriate and beneficial yoga practice for people who have experienced trauma, mental health challenges, addiction and disadvantage. This workshop uniquely links modern neuroscience with the yoga sutras and ancient yoga philosophy.

The content and learning outcomes will support both teachers working with at-risk groups and the general population: any yoga class is likely to include someone experiencing mental ill health or recovering from a traumatic experience. It is an excellent and effective way to equip yourself with useful information to incorporate into your teaching immediately.

WORKSHOP FACILITATORS

Natalie Haider, Yoga Therapist and Psychologist

Natalie is an internationally Certified Yoga Therapist with the International Association of Yoga Therapists (C-IAYT). She has been a registered Psychologist since 2002. Natalie specialises in integrating evidence-based psychological tools with trauma-informed yoga therapy, and delivering this in an accessible, inclusive, and body positive way. Natalie has taught with The Yoga Foundation since 2018.
Natalie has extensive experience in Learning & Development roles at UNSW Division of Research; as a Researcher Development Consultant & Instructional Designer and as a National Training Specialist & Principal Consultant, Converge International.

Mischa Telford, Senior yoga teacher and internationally-accredited yoga therapist

Mischa brings over three decades of experience and knowledge, with a background and extensive training in yoga philosophy and practice, as well as gestalt psychotherapy and massage. Her yoga training is in the Krishnamacharya lineage, which is unique in its emphasis on adapting classical yoga techniques to teach what is appropriate to the individual.
