Event description

Women’s Legal Service NSW and Community Legal Centres NSW bring community legal centre practitioners an overview of key legal issues for clients living with or escaping from domestic, family & sexual violence. Women’s Legal Service NSW staff have decades of experience and wisdom from total immersion in this practice all day, every day, everywhere in NSW.

Community legal centres are familiar with family law and family violence issues, with heaps of
empathy and motivation to help. In times of increasing stringency around how to deal with domestic, family and sexual violence, as well as specific funding opportunities for these services, we all need to become more EXPERT!

This 2-day workshop is in person. Participants must attend both days.

Day One:

  • What is domestic & family violence?
  • Introduction to AVOs
  • Cultural awareness
  • Child protection
  • DV and housing

Day Two:

  • Vicarious trauma
  • Supporting survivors of sexual violence
  • Family law
  • Victims support

This course proceeds an advanced training that will be offered later in the year.
